Best MLB Baseball Road Trips in 2026

The Ultimate MLB Road Trip Guide for 2026

There is nothing quite like walking into a baseball stadium in a city you have never been to, cold beer in hand, sun on your face, zero responsibilities. A baseball road trip is one of the best things you can do with your crew, and 2026 is a perfect year to pull it off.

We broke the best MLB cities into three tiers: Legends, Contenders, and Sleepers. Mix and match based on your route, budget, and how many days you can get away.

The Legends

These are bucket-list stadiums. If you have not been, fix that.

Chicago -- Wrigley Field

Wrigley is not just a stadium, it is a neighborhood experience. Hit up the rooftop bars on Sheffield and Waveland before the game, grab a Polish sausage inside, and stay in Wrigleyville so you can walk everywhere. The bars around Clark and Addison will keep you busy until 2 AM.

Pro Tip: Go for a weekend Cubs series and stay in Lakeview. You will be within walking distance of the park and dozens of bars. Do not skip the Cubby Bear across the street.

New York -- Yankee Stadium and Citi Field

Two stadiums, two boroughs, one weekend. Hit the Bronx for a Yankees game (the atmosphere is intense, especially during a rivalry series), then cross over to Queens for a Mets game at Citi Field, which honestly has better food. Stay in Manhattan and take the subway to both.

Pro Tip: Grab a pastrami sandwich at Citi Field's Pat LaFrieda stand. It is one of the best things you will eat in any stadium in America.

San Francisco -- Oracle Park

The views of the Bay from Oracle Park are ridiculous. Garlic fries are mandatory. The surrounding area along McCovey Cove is great for a pre-game walk, and the city itself gives you enough to fill a full weekend -- Fisherman's Wharf, the Mission, North Beach.

Pro Tip: Book a Bay cruise or kayak session for a rest day. You can actually see home runs splash into the cove from the water.

The Contenders

Not as famous, but absolutely worth the trip.

San Diego -- Petco Park

Petco Park in the Gaslamp Quarter might be the best stadium location in baseball. You walk out of the game and you are immediately surrounded by bars and restaurants. The weather is always perfect. It is almost unfair.

Pro Tip: Hit Hodad's for burgers, then bar hop down Fifth Avenue. The rooftop at The Nolen has unreal views.

Pittsburgh -- PNC Park

PNC Park is a sleeper pick that consistently gets ranked as one of the most beautiful stadiums in baseball. The skyline view from behind home plate across the Allegheny River is iconic. Tickets are cheap, beer is cheap, and the Strip District is a great spot to eat before the game.

Pro Tip: Walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge from downtown to the stadium. It is one of the best walks in sports.

St. Louis -- Busch Stadium

St. Louis is a baseball town through and through. The fans are passionate, the stadium is solid, and the area around Ballpark Village has turned into a legit pre-game and post-game destination. Plus, you are legally required to eat toasted ravioli while you are there.

Pro Tip: If you are driving a Midwest loop, St. Louis pairs perfectly with Chicago and Milwaukee for a three-city trip.

The Sleepers

Under-the-radar cities that punch way above their weight.

Milwaukee -- American Family Field

Tailgating in the parking lot at a Brewers game is one of the most underrated experiences in baseball. Bring a grill, bring bags, bring way too much beer. The stadium has a retractable roof, so weather is never an issue. Hit up the Third Ward neighborhood for food and bars after.

Pro Tip: Miller Brewery tour during the day, Brewers game at night. That is a perfect Tuesday.

Denver -- Coors Field

Balls fly at altitude and the scoreboard stays busy. Coors Field is right in LoDo (Lower Downtown), which is packed with breweries, rooftop bars, and restaurants. Denver is also a great home base if your crew wants to mix in a day of hiking.

Pro Tip: Grab a seat in the Rooftop area for the best views of the Rocky Mountains beyond the outfield.

Planning Your Route

The best MLB road trips hit 3-4 cities over 5-7 days. Here are a few natural routes:

Tips for Pulling It Off

A baseball road trip is one of those things you will talk about for years. Stop planning it "someday" and lock in the dates. The 2026 season is not going to wait for you.
